Background

Shahid Rehman formed (Art Apparel) Dabistan-e-Fun in 1996. Since then DF has been producing theatre plays promoting human rights and social change in critical way.



Mission Statement

To bring reform in the moral and cultural values of our society, bring awareness for education and international issues such as aids, child labor and Human Rights through the most dominated and world’s first communicative medium Theatre.


To promote educational and social theatre in Pakistan by blending traditional theatre forms with modern techniques and to provide entertainment, which has a social relevance.


To work for the Arts and Aesthetic development and Art Education in Pakistan

Origin

Dabistan-e-Fun is one of the leading Theatre Groups of Karachi, (Established in 1996 by Mr. Shahid Rehman) working for the last ten years for Social Awareness, Arts & Aesthetic development and to promote educational and social theatre and create awareness among the citizens regarding our moral values of society and our culture. So far we have gained popularity and confidence in people of almost all walks of life in Karachi be presenting art workshops (including Fine arts, Textile designing and Theatre arts) and many forms of Theatre presentations like; Street Theatre, Proscenium style, Symbolic performances etc. Since then D’Fun has been continuously performing social plays within Pakistan.

A dedicated gentleman Mr. Shahid Rehman founded with the aims to be a part of collective effort to bring reform in the moral and cultural values of our society, bring awareness for education and international issues such as aids, child-labor and Human Rights through the most dominated and world’s first communicative medium Theatre.

Dabistan-e-Fun is a Not for Profit and Non-Government Organization, also working as one of the leading theatre groups of Karachi arose in Theatre world in 1995.
